After General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong of the ruling Communist Party of Vietnam passed away, he left the anti-corruption campaign called “furnace” to State President To Lam who was a main factor for the campaign as the minister of public security. And the upcoming firewood includes one provincial party secretary, two peputy prime ministers and two Politburo members:

  1. Tran Cam Tu (born in 1961, hometown Ha Tinh) is currently a Politburo member and Chairman of the Central Committee’s Inspection Commission.

 

  1. Phan Dinh Trac (born in 1958, hometown Nghe An) is currently a Politburo member and Head of the Central Committee’s Internal Affairs Commission. He came from the police with the rank of colonel and was the director of Nghe An provincial Police.

 

  1. Le Minh Khai (born in 1964, from Bac Lieu) is incumbent Deputy Prime Minister, previously held the position of Government Inspector General (2017-2021).

 

  1. Tran Hong Ha (born in 1963, from Ha Tinh) is incumbent Deputy Prime Minister, previously held the position of Minister of Natural Resources and Environment (2016 – 2023).

 

  1. Le Thi Thuy (born in 1964, from Nghe An) is incumbent Secretary of Ha Nam province.

 

Of the 5 senior officials mentioned above, Le Minh Khai is especially related to Van Thinh Phat, receiving $5 million and a villa worth hundreds of billions of dong.
