The race to the position of General Secretary has resumed right after the end of the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
It is possible that Secretary Nguyen Xuan Ky of Quang Ninh province will be arrested. The purpose is to put pressure on Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to withdraw from the race.
An internal source also said that Secretary Nguyen Xuan Ky (born in 1972, from Nam Dinh) has been summoned to the Ministry of Public Security in Hanoi for investigation.
